ABOUT BLINDED /// The experiment, "Blinded", combined the minds of a team of four artists to explore intuitive creation and collective consciousness. For a duration of three hours, a blindfolded artist worked from pure instinct while surrounded by a series of seemingly random actions. The wearing of a blindfold forces the artist to once again work from childhood naivety and test how we are subconsciously influenced by those around us. We theorized that creation without sight or complete control has the potential to produce significant works of art. The source of this hypothesis stemmed from the theory that a monkey typing endlessly at a typewriter will eventually type the works of Shakespeare word for word (known as the Infinite Monkey Theorem). This experiment allowed for an audience to observe curated collaboration that the artists themselves cannot entirely control. It aimed to explore the possibilities of making art through unconscious co-action, without direct concern for composition, color, shape, line, etc. "Blinded" instead emphasizes intuition, the subconscious mind, and the inevitable eventuality of all artworks being created.
