ABOUT SURFACE /// Responding to the function of the space it occupies, "Surface" addressed the very nature of art making. Referencing some of the most basic tools for creating, a collage of objects, light, shadow, and digital screens came together in this still-life installation. The screen operated as a portal that took ordinary hand tools and transformed them into imagined art objects, but only when viewed through the frame of the screen. The final result was something that moved fluidly between painting, photography, video, and sculpture.
